September 11th marks the anniversary of the horrific terrorist attacks on America in 2001. When 19 men hijacked four United States commercial airplanes and killed 2,977 people in a series of attacks. Two-thousand, seven-hundred and fifty-three people died at the World Trade Center site in New York City: 343 were firefighters, 23 were police officers and 37 were Port Authority officers from New York City. One-hundred eighty-four people died when a plane crashed into the Pentagon in Washington DC, and an additional 40 people were killed when a flight crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Sixty percent of World Trade Center victim's remains have been identified (as of September 2019). We will never forget. On this Patriot's Day, we remember and honor the innocent victims who were lost in the terror attacks on September 11th, 2001. Please join me in 11 seconds of silence to honor their memory and sacrifice.
