Welcome to the 2023-24 school year!

Aloha! Здравствуйте!

I am truly honored to be a part of the Rancho team! I have been teaching various grade levels of English since 2007, first in the Los Angeles Unified School District, briefly out of state in Oregon, and then in the Long Beach Unified School District. I did my undergraduate studies at New York University and the University of Hawaii-Manoa, and I earned my teaching credential in English from California State University Long Beach in 2011. I am also certified to teach introductory Russian and hold a Masters Degree in Education from California State University San Marcos. Prior to teaching, I lived and worked in the former Soviet Union as a journalist during the ruble collapse of 1998 (which was not fun!).

I was born and raised on the island of Maui, Hawaii, and am proud to say that my family has been in the islands since before the time of King Kamehameha I. I love the diversity (and climate) of Southern California and marvel at the opportunities available here. The world is an exciting and dynamic place where new and fascinating things happen every day. I am looking forward to sharing my curiosity and understanding of it with you.

If YOU ARE A PARENT: I can include you on the Google Classroom pages so that you can see what and how your child is doing in my class. Please email me at [email protected] and I will set you up to see our Google Classroom.

You will also find the syllabi (course overviews) for all my classes below. Please do not hesitate to contact me; I check my email and voice messages multiple times a day.

I look forward to a wonderful, productive, and educational year!
