CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT

School issued chromebook and charger

Psychology Textbook (no need to bring to class)

A folder to hold your assignments 

Pen and pencil

ASSIGNMENTS

Some assignments will be turned in digitally on Google Classroom and paper assignments will be turned in periodically on the day of the unit test (approximately every 2-3 weeks) in a packet format.  Projects and other assignments will be assigned and also given a point value. Late work is highly discouraged in this class.  Assignments on Google Classroom will only be accepted late until the assignment is uploaded into Aeries.  Regarding paper assignments, late packets will receive reduced credit for each day late.  Certain in-class assignments (such as group posters) may not be turned in late.  

GRADES

Summative assessments (tests, quizzes and some projects)= 60% of your grade

Formative assessments (notes, assignments, etc)=25% of your grade

Psychology Scholar Grade=15% of your grade

I use the standard grading scale.  Check Aeries often to view your grade.

90%-100%=A

80%-89%=B

70%-79%=C

60%-69%=D

59% and below is a failing grade.

MAKEUP WORK

It is your responsibility to make up any missed work following an absence. Make up assignments can be found in the back of the classroom.  If you have any questions, please ask at an appropriate time during class or before/after class or during VAQ time.

TESTS and QUIZZES

Each unit will have a summative assessment (such as a test or quiz) for you to complete in class.  It is important to note that I do not follow the book order exactly and some units are combined in order to cover the topics in one semester.  Tests and quizzes will be given a specific time frame to complete.  If you are absent on the day of a test or quiz, there will be makeup test/quiz days in class or during VAQ time when you can make up the test.  

PSYCHOLOGY SCHOLAR/PARTICIPATION 

In order to get the most out of this class, it is important to be engaged and to participate.   You will receive a psychology scholar grade periodically based on your engagement in classroom activities and discussions.  Participation points will be lost due to phone use, sleeping, or not being on task during class.
