Hello students,
Welcome to a new school year, one that promises to bring new, challenging and exciting learning experiences. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself.
I was born and raised in Saigon, Viet Nam, and obtained a high school diploma from Marie Curie High School before coming to the United States. I attended CSU, Fullerton and earned a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics. After the completion of the credential program, I taught at Doig Intermediate for a semester. In the 1995-1996 school year, I transferred to Rancho Alamitos High School and have made "the Ranch" my second home for 27 years.
I have taught Algebra 1P/2P, Geometry, Pre-Calculus and have been teaching AP Calculus AB/BC ever since. I have high expectations for all students and hope that, through teaching, I will be able to instill in each student the appreciation for the beauty of mathematics and the value of diligent work. In my classes, students do not just learn math standards, they also learn organization and critical thinking skills that will help them in school and in many other aspects of life in the future.
I am, understandably, fluent in Vietnamese. I have been married to my soulmate, Phuong Vu, for over 29 years. When I am not teaching, I enjoy being a mom to my two lovely daughters: Christina, who is a high school math teacher, and little daughter, Catherine, who is working towards her goal of becoming an English professor. In my free time, I mostly spend my days gardening with my husband in the front and back yards. My other hobbies include shopping, traveling, playing piano, and singing in church choir, which I have been participating in for almost 40 years.
